  • How do I maintain my new best friend?
In general, you hardly need to maintain the Bali Parasol. In case black spots appear on the fabric - which can happen when the parasol is folded while still damp for too long - use HG Mold Remover. Spray this product on the spots, rinse well and the canvas will be like new in ten minutes. This works for all our Bali Parasols in American Drill including the colored parasols. Just be careful not to spray too much on the bamboo, they don't like the chemicals too much. In case your parasol got dirty from birds, dust, other, just rinse with a garden hose, scrub with a mild soap and soft brush, rinse thoroughly and let it dry.
  • How do I prevent my Bali Parasol from being lifted from the base?
A: It's important to ensure that your parasol cannot be lifted out of the base by the wind. If you have a traditional base without a screw function, we recommend securing the parasol pole with a wooden wedge, a half-clip or piece of rubber. See picture below with a very smart solution that we received from a client.
  • How best to handle my Bali Parasol first time?
First of all, congratulations! You have a unique piece made with love by skilled and passionate artisans. On the box, it says 'open this side', which is the correct side to start unpacking the parasol. Inside, you'll find our instruction for first time assembly and some tips. The parasol is packed in a storage bag, which you can easily pull out of the box. Now check if you received the correct parasol before you start unpacking. Place your base where you wish to have the parasol. Unpack the bottom part ( the part without the parasol) of the 2-part pole and place it in the base. Then let the top part unfold in front of you up-side-down and push the round crown, gently bouncing, downward onto the top until the pin hole shows. Don't worry, there is a stop pin inside the parasol, and there is a hole otherwise the parasol could not have been made. Now insert the pin. Remove all packaging from the bamboo, top, pole, decorations, and place the parasol on the bottom part of the pole and insert the second pin. Note: the connector pin only fits in one combination, so if you think there is something wrong: just rotate the parasol half a turn and it will fit perfectly.
  • Is the Bali Parasol Ā® original Waterproof?
The American Drill parasol withstands light rain showers for some time but heavy an prolonged rainfall penetrates the canvas. So they are not waterproof in that way. Our experience is that most people are inside already when the parasol starts to drip :) Ensure the parasol can always dry open before closing it and store it away. At this moment we are in the testing phase with waterproof Bali Parasols being our new product line. . These waterproof round parasols will be unpainted but identical to the others in style.
  • How do I store my Bali Parasol Ā®
A: The most important thing is to always let the parasol fully dry before folding or storing it. When outside, when you fold wet it for windy reasons, make sure the parasol can dry OPEN some time later. Keep the set together and store it in the provided storage bag. Store the parasol in a dry, not too cold place. For example, we do not recommend storing them in a damp shed or room.
  • Help the pin in the connector part does not match ??
Yes it will no stress... Just give the parasol a half turn so the other side gets to the pin hole. The holes are also manually crafted, so precision is essential and it fits only in one combination.
  • What if I see a black spot or even mold on my parasol?
If you notice a black spot on the fabric: use HG Mold Remover. Black spots or mold typically occur on parasols when they are not properly dried before being closed. On our canvas it does not happen fast, like it does on the cheaper variations. Spray the HG Mold Remover on the spot and in 10 minutes the canvas will be like new. Also works on colored canvases.
  • How can I be sure I'm ordering a Bali Parasol Ā® original ?
Since Balinese parasols started to flood the market and online displays, there can be confusion about whether it's a genuine Bali Parasol original in top quality. We find our Bali Parasol pictures back online with companies we don't know so we choose to sell our product Bali Parasol Ā® exclusively through our own website: https://www.baliparasol.com . We do not work with third parties or resellers. We also handle the shipping fulfilment ourselves to maintain control over everything and we know exactly which parasol from which batch is in your box. Our payment statement says: HELIVIEWS / Bali Parasol Our invoices are send from: mail@eaccounting.vismaonline.com from: HELIVIEWS (Bali Parasol.com). Our official email adres is: info@baliparasol.com Our Whats app: +31 6 83 206 777
  • Can authentic Bali Parasols tilt?
A: This question is frequently asked, and as much as we would like to offer a tilting Bali Parasol, our craftsmen are very traditional and so is our product. However, we have a few tips to ensure no low-sun can come peep under the parasol. Just attache a beautiful cloth or piece of fabric to the parasol. Or, for those weld ā€“ weld a male and female piece together with a bend. Place these in the bottom part of the pole and set the parasol in the bent top piece. Be cautious with the wind then!
  • What should I consider when purchasing a Bali parasol base?
A: First, determine whether the parasol base will be visible or not. If it won't be visible or hardly noticeable, opt for a cheap base of about 35 kg with a screw function. These are not decorative but available in large numbers at garden centers from ā‚¬40. They are practical and do the job but are not particularly decorative additions to your Bali Parasol. To create your special Bali Parasol set, it looks stunning with a matching base. We designed several models and we are sure there is one to like for every style. Additionally, our private collection parasol bases are of high quality concrete and frost-resistant. They can stay outside all year round and age in a beautiful way.. Tip: If you want the parasol base to be easily movable, purchase a (plant) roller tray from the garden center and place the base on it. (be careful when windy!) These parasol bases do not require any maintenance. If you don't like the aging with moss etc just clean them with a high pressure cleaner.
  • The Gold paint is changing in color, is this normal?
A: Yes this is exactly why 90% of the people love these parasols. The gold paint is a patina paint that weathers in the sun. The paint pattern will not remain gold and shiny but will transform over time into a vintage shabby/chic look. That is the specific intention and gives the parasol a her character over time. Nothing changes on the inside; the lace effect inside of the painting remains unchanged.
  • Can my Bali ParasolĀ® be out when windy?
Our parasols are strong and flexible due to the high bamboo quality, BUT they remain parasols... From wind force 4 Beaufort it is fine but going towards 5 Beaufort they begin to struggle. Then it is best to close the parasol and tie up the Bali Parasol so it cannot be caught by the wind!. If the parasol stays outside when you are not there, we suggest you always tie close the parasol with a rope or ribbon. Alternatively, consider purchasing one of our very decorative shell cords especially made by our shellman for this purpose. You always keep the decorative effect of your parasol even when windy and you don't need to get nervous when not at home. We offer these specifically designed shell tassels to our customers at cost of only ā‚¬12,50 1 per parasol. It will be enclosed in the box with your parasol. For strong gusts of wind, or whirlwinds we advise bringing the parasol indoors.
  • I ordered on Amazon or elsewhere, and the parasol looks very different
A: Unfortunately, you haven't ordered and received a Bali ParasolĀ® original. We only sell our parasols through this website and not through third parties. They are made by different (mass) manufacturers with different materials in different qualities. Our photos are occasionally taken from our website and published elsewhere without our permission, making it seem like you may expect our product but it will not be. This led us to keep everything in-house so that you always know exactly what to expect. We love to exceed expectations and this compliment we often receive.
  • Can I leave my parasol outside?
Yes and no. We consider our parasols too special not to handle them with some extra love and care so you will enjoy your unique piece for many seasons. During summer days, the parasol can stay outside without protection. A few rain showers won't immediately damage or render the parasol unusable. Always make sure the parasol can dry OPEN when wet. Prolonged exposure to humid, wet and rainy weather eventually can cause loss of beauty. In case you get black spots on the canvas: use HG Mold Remover, spray it on the spots, rinse well and your parasol will be like new in 10 minutes. It is easy to take in only the top part of the Bali Parasol inside. Make sure then the parasol is completely dry before folding and storing it. You may consider purchasing our outdoor cover. It has been extensively tested, is 100% waterproof and easy to use. With this cover you can leave your parasol outside all summer season. We even tested it in winter and was perfect but we prefer the parasol to be inside during winter. Again, it is important to ensure the parasol is completely dry before you store it in a dry place.
  • My pin or pole is broken, now what?
A: Don't worry, we have reserves for almost all parts of the parasol. Contact us, and there is a good chance we can send you the broken part.
  • Help I cannot get the Bali Parasol out, is there a trick?
As we use the highest quality bamboo in non-flex style first time opening is best as follows: Place the parasol in front of you and let it fall open. Then push the round wooden crown down slightly bouncing until the pin hole shows. If you don't see the pin hole, you have to push further, it is there 100% otherwise the parasol could not have been made. They paint and decorate the parasol when assembled. Don't be afraid you push too hard, there is a stopper pin inside the parasol. The bamboo will settle in time a bit more, but we still always use this way.
